HMI, HTI and HSR lamps are mainly used in the area of entertainment lighting.
HMI lamps provide the highest values of color rendering, along with a high luminous efficiency of up to 100 lm/W . They do have a daylight-like color temperature of 6000K and hot re-start. Most HMI lamps are used in film and television recording, where the quality of the light plays a specially important role.
The most important feature of the HTI lamps is their high luminance, which allows particularly good collecting and conducting of the generated light. For this reason HTI lamps are at work in most modern effect lighting pictures. Thanks to the high luminance it is possible to increase the lighting power of the device while at the same time making it smaller and easier to build, and all that without increasing the power consumption of the lamp.
HSR lamps are particularly robust and their outer bulbs provide additional security in handling and operation. They are to be found in many well installed effect lighting fixtures often also for outdoor use.

Features and Benefits
HMI lamps are used both single ended and double ended. The common single ended HMI lamps have an outer bulb, which makes them less sensitive to environmental influences. They have a color temperature of 6000K, a high colour rendering of <90 and their high color stability is convincing. It should be noted in particular that all HMI lamps are featuring hot re-start.
HTI lamps are also available both single ended and double ended, although HTI lamps do not have an outer bulb. Only the double ended HTI lamps are heat-ignitable. Depending on application area and lamps, color temperatures lie between 4300 and 7500K.
All HSR lamps are designed only for cold ignition. Their outer bulbs make them less sensitive to environmental influences. Depending on type and application, HSR lamps with a color temperature of 6000 or 7200K are available.
HMP lamps are a variation of HMI lamps which have been optimized for the special demands of high-performance overhead projectors. Typical features are their high color temperature and the ability to dim or boost.
